Stephen Curry and the Warriors eliminate Nikola Jokic’s gigantic Nuggets

Denver played the perfect match for three quarters. They dominated the tempo and dominated the debate but ran out of juice to finish the match, leaving Nikola Jokic alone against the Warriors group. Led by eight points early in the last quarter, Golden State started with a 16-6 score to regain the advantage and never see the Nuggets again.

With Stephen Curry returning to fifth in place of Kevin Looney, the Warriors started with the famous Fast Five. They start with 7 of 9 on shots to take a seven-point lead and then stay silent for nearly four minutes against an alert Denver defense, allowing aggressive Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon to keep the Nuggets in ambush (30-25). Both attacks are struggling, the pace slows down, and that works out for the Nuggets. They lead on the 3-pointer from Will Barton, but Klay Thompson put the two teams back before the break (48-48).

At the center of a sleepy hunt, the Warriors continue to outsmart and take advantage of Denver. They started the third quarter with 16-6 to lead by ten points (64-54). As is often the case, it is Draymond Green activity, as well as a trail in Zone 2-3, that wakes up Golden State. The green is more aggressive with the ball in his hand, causes two Jokic fouls, and Stephen Curry finds twice on 3 points to make the Warriors at -1 (71-70). However, they start from scratch by offering offensive bounce after offensive bounce to nuggets. Will Barton and DeMarcus hit mark cousins from afar on the second and third chances and Denver is moving forward (78-70).

After a superb pass from DeMarcus Cousins, Nikola Jokic returns to play and immediately receives his fifth foul. The Warriors then take the opportunity to finish 16-6 with an award-winning shot from Gary Payton II which gives them the advantage (86-84). While both teams lack juice, Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic go for the blow (90-90). Unfortunately for Denver, it was Aaron Gordon who cracked first when he lost a ball which resulted in a muscle pass from Curry which gave Dubs a four-point lead with 90 seconds to play (94-90). Despite all the efforts of the amazing Nikola Jokic, Gary Payton II and Stephen Curry finished the job to send Golden State into the second round!

What to remember

– Aaron Gordon and the Nuggets dictate the rhythm and set the tone. The first three Nuggets collectibles announced the color. As in Game 4, Aaron Gordon was determined to attack the Circle. Three ‘engines’, and three fouls they caused on Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson. The Denver winger had seven free throws in the first quarter, and his team finished the first half with twenty free throws to the Warriors’ only seven. Playing the aggressor and Golden State, the Nuggets struggled, never really able to control the game or increase the speed.

Warriors shot at their feet. While the Draymond Green duo – Stephen Curry managed to bring the Warriors to -1 after leading them with a 10, they’ll miss the opportunity to regain the advantage by leaving two offensive bounces to the Nuggets which turn into 3 Barton points. Dubs would make the same mistake on the next property, allowing Denver to reclaim an eight-point lead. In all, the Nuggets will take 6 offensive rebounds in the third quarter which will turn into eight points.
