With Galen Bronson on another planet, the Mavericks tied!

The MAF might have lost their home ground advantage, and they didn’t lose the war. Still short of Luka Doncic, the Texans have largely curbed the meltdown by presenting themselves this second round as synonymous with par before traveling to Utah. They’ll go there with the Slovenian or not, but with a good dose of confidence shown by Galen Bronson and Maxi Kleiber, tonight’s champions.

If Donovan Mitchell scores the first basket in the game, it won’t fail to send Rudy Gobert down the “alley” from the next acquisition. After a few seconds of playing, the Frenchman had already tried as many shots as in the first round… If the result was less fortunate for him, his team dominated the first period.

After a perfectly balanced first quarter (24-24), visitors counted on activity near the Jordan Clarkson-Donovan Mitchell tandem circuit. The latter embarked on a duel at a distance with Galen Bronson that would continue throughout the evening. In the second half, both men had 21 points but Utah, thanks to its dominance of the rebound, had three possessions (48-55).

With his left leader, very comfortable with the “floater,” Dallas had no trouble picking up the score but it was hard for him to get back to the front. Despite the gradual waking of Maxi Kleber behind the three-point line, author of an award-winning shot into the bell in the corner in front of Rudy Gobert, the building still leads after three quarters (77-81).

Bojan Bogdanovic has been relatively conservative so far to help Donovan Mitchell score. But Jazz couldn’t respond to the scene shown by Galen Bronson continuing to hack to finish in the circuit, or fix and find Maxi Clipper still composed for two missiles in a row four minutes later. Dorian Finney Smith also arrived two minutes later (107-102) to protect Dallas from the Jazz comeback. Chain tie confirmed!

What to remember

Dallas still beats rebound. The Jazz had 19 more rebounds than Mavis in Game 1. Repeats per second! We suspected that the lack of centimeters between the Texans was likely to play tricks on them. And so Rudy Gobert kept his subject on the road without scrambling for defensive rebounds. Despite this gap, Dallas, who … finished with Jalen Bronson as the wrestler’s best, managed to take more shots than his opponent thanks to impeccable ball management (3 losses by ball).

Texas long distance address. The two strongmen, Jalen Bronson and Maxi Kleiber, signed an excellent 3-point 14/21 between them. These are more award winning shots than the entire opposing team which, as we remember, is one of the most dangerous teams in the league in the sector. So we can say that Utah was defeated at its own game and that Jason Kidd’s defensive strategy, to push Quinn Snyder’s men to shoot two points, worked well. On the other hand, jazz will have to react better to associations – opposing passes.

tops/swings

Galen Bronson. MVP songs him during his free throws at the end of the game! While Spencer Dinwiddie was struggling with his shot, Jalen Bronson exceeded all possible expectations to make Luka Doncic forget by signing his career. Despite wasting in the second quarter, he was impressed by his general efficiency and ease of making his shot. A giant match for the youngest player on Earth.

maxi clipper. Prize-winning basket in the first quarter, second in the second and then…Blowout. The German, who beat Dwight Powell, planted six new award-winning baskets in the second half. He spent most of his time in the corners to stretch the Jazz defense as much as possible and thus take Rudy Gobert off the racket. Interior design approached his career as well.

✅ ⛔ Donovan Mitchell. with Boyan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson and even Royce O’Neill by his side, the Jazz’s backside didn’t lack offensive support. He was still the one who took the lead in the Jazz attack but he didn’t always shine with his efficiency, like 3/11 in shots in the last quarter.

✅ ⛔ Rudy Gobert. He was more involved with his teammates, especially Donovan Mitchell. Unfortunately for the jazz team, the French missed several times on completion, including two attempts at the “alley-oop”. We also saw him lose the ball while trying to “post-up” against Maxi Kleber. His waste in attack shouldn’t make us forget his defensive investment, even if he also struggled to defend the German behind the arc.

Mike Conley. Soon he was constrained by personal errors, as the commander shone with his own follies, near or far from the circle. This was his first zero in 69 playoffs in his career.
