PS4: Final Fantasy VII, Shadow of the Colossus…Best rated remake on JV

game news PS4: Final Fantasy VII, Shadow of the Colossus…Best rated remake on JV

Even if they regularly introduce new games to pique your interest in them, the video game industry sometimes allows itself a little throwback, giving a little bit of polish to past glories. Everything can take the form of a simple redesign (basic graphics at a higher resolution) but also a remake. The visuals are then completely reworked and studios often allow themselves some novelties compared to the original. Featured on PlayStation 4.

After making its mark on countless gamers in the late ’90s, the great Final Fantasy VII is back on PlayStation 4 in 2020 as a new release, five years after it was announced. for one time It’s an overhaul: apart from its all-new graphics within Unreal Engine 4, the title structure doesn’t have much to do with FFVII on PS1. The complete remake of Final Fantasy VII – which is actually only the first part of each larger – takes place in Midgard, an industrial city that initially serves as the setting in the beginning of the plot, where the notably Cloud character meets the environmental terrorist group Avalanche, led by Barrett and Teva, or Even Eris. In the program: new plots, a new real-time and turn-based combat system with an active pause system, and much more. Without a doubt one of the best releases so far.

Another big name for the new release on PlayStation 4: Shadow of the Colossus. This is a revamp of the cult title released in 2005 on PS2, which was originally developed by – among others – Team Ico, headed up by creator Fumito Ueda (The Last Guardian). But as part of this remake, Bluepoint is in charge, a studio that remakes its specialty, which will later take charge of remakes of the excellent Demon’s Souls Remake. But for the case of Shadow of the Colossus, it is first and foremost a major graphical overhaul, with some minor tweaks to the controls. Bluepoint already has a steadfast respect for businesses that remake, and they’re not the kind to add entire sections of levels in their remasters. Hero Wander still has to eliminate huge creatures to save his lover. Now more beautiful, now or never try it.

Yakuza Kiwami

To mark Yakuza’s 10th anniversary, SEGA has come to a stop to bring us Yakuza Kiwami, the remake of the first episode of the popular series. As usual, This redesign is an opportunity to welcome new graphics, but also a redesigned stage show with new dubbing and stories.. The player still embodies Kazuma Kiryu, who unfortunately attracts the wrath of the Yakuza. Thus, the man will spend ten years in prison and will have to readjust to a Japan that has changed so much. Moreover, the new realization wonderfully reproduces the very special atmosphere of the Kamurocho area over two distinct eras. Thus, the license is more than ever in the long tradition of Japanese gangster films, with a more modern gameplay style. The latter is actually inspired by Yakuza 0, with four different fighting styles. Once again, a very good remake.

Following the release of Resident Evil VII and its innovative approach to licensing, from a first-person perspective, Capcom offered itself to return to its roots by remakes of the series’ second and third episodes, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, released a year later between 2019 and 2020. Players have been able to rediscover these titles with completely redesigned gameplay and new graphics, as well as new clips.. As a reminder, Resident Evil 2 traces the first adventures of Leon Kennedy, the great hero of Resident Evil 4, and Claire Redfield through Raccoon City, then already invaded by zombies. For its part, the third opus – which takes place at the same time as the events of RE2 – makes us live the rest of the turbulent daily life of Jill Valentine, one of the main characters of the first Resident Evil, who is trying to escape from the infamous enemy. Very powerful headlines.

Bandicoot crash N.

Before returning in 2020 with a fourth and all-new episode, the great Crash Bandicoot has allowed himself to run through the fountain of youth for these first three compositions, completely reworked by studio Vicarious Visions, which will also give us Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+ 2 afterwards. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy presents new visuals for the original trilogy of the series. The title was released in 2017, and two years later the animal is back with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, a revamp of the Mario Kart-inspired racing game. Although it’s no longer Vicarious Visions in the controls – but between Beenox – we find the same colorful and detailed art direction that made the previous version’s magic. Of course, the fun of playing remains unchanged. I am pleased, however, to learn that the first Crash Bandicoot did not miss any of his difficulties. miss you.

Questions and clatter

Even if today we talk mainly about Ratchet & Clank in their latest episode on PlayStation 5, Rift Apart, we must not forget either the very good remake of the series’ foundational adaptation, which was released in 2016. What was really remarkable at the time – even today moreover – was the quality of the animation and graphics published by studio Insomniac. More than just an update with brand new visuals, Ratchet & Clank is a reboot of the original title, with new weapons some taken from more recent episodes (like some characters for that matter) and straight cuts from it. From the animation, the movie Ratchet & Clank was released in the same year. In addition, if you have a PS5, it will be possible to enjoy a frame rate of 60 frames per second thanks to backwards compatibility.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap

Have you been to Lizardcube? The French studio is a true specialist when it comes to giving a second life to licenses / games that show the weight of the years. The team showed him again recently with Streets of Rage 4, but we already owe them to 2017’s Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, a remake of the popular action/adventure license. The title thus displays an artistic direction while the animation is absolutely gorgeous, but also the animation that is just sublime.. In terms of mechanics and level design, nothing has changed (there’s even an option that allows you to quickly alternate between the original title and its redesign). And even if some of the mechanics seem old, they still work well, with the characters being able to change to have different abilities to get access to new places. A must for fans of 2D games.

NIER REPLICANT version 1.22474487139 …

We continue with the series that became popular thanks to the last episode, Nier Automata. With Nier Replicant version 1.22, players can discover the first part of this title in a chest completely redesigned for the occasion. Thus, this remake is based on Nier Replicant, the PS3 version released only in Japan (the European version was based on Nier Gestalt released there on Xbox 360), following a very specific ending for Drakengard, an earlier game from the same studio. Thus the player follows the adventures of a young boy Nir, who must delve into a post-apocalyptic world in order to find a cure for his sister. But with this new version, the journey is made with completely new graphics and equally revisited gameplay., at the crossroads of hack’n’slash and beat’em all, also with spells that allow you to cast projectiles. All with an RPG aspect that will improve his equipment as well as his attacks. After Nier Automata, it’s an unmissable title.

Mafia: Defined Edition

When an edition that collected all three episodes of the Mafia series arrived, Hangar 13 didn’t do things in half. The first part dates from 2002 and had to be updated to find its place along with the other two tracks. More than just a remake, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a complete reboot with new graphics, redesigned gameplay and completely rewritten story.. The player still embodies Tommy Angelou, a taxi driver who is forced to seek help from the Salieri family after being attacked by another family in Lost Haven. And so the man would join the group, encouraged by the lack of job opportunities caused by the Great Depression. Because yes, this mafia takes place during the 1930s, and studio Hangar 13 has also made a special effort to faithfully copy that atmosphere. This is a very good remake.

After losing his comeback in 2015 with Pro Skater 5, it’s an exaggeration to say that fans fear the release of a new installment of Tony Hawk’s skate license. But when all hope seemed lost, studio Vicarious Visions came to the rescue, giving an almost unexpected polish to the first two games in the series. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 offers a rediscovery of about twenty cult levels with very beautiful graphics at 60 frames per second.. The result is new and familiar. The developers have been smart enough to get the most out of the series’ gameplay, including game elements that will only appear in episodes released after Pro Skater 1 and 2, such as rolling over or bouncing on walls. All techniques are available to achieve completely delirious combinations. It’s fun to play and beautiful to look at.
