Today, IQM, the European leader in the field of quantum computing, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Bar Ilan University, two of the world’s leading universities, announced the launch of a collaboration in the field of quantum computing focusing on research, exchange of know-how and quantum devices.

The goal of this collaboration is to provide researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (a group led by Professor Nadav Katz, in the Department of Physics and at the Scientific Center for Quantum Information) and Bar Ilan University (a group led by Professor Michael Stern, Department of Physics) developed commercial-grade quantum computing devices. by IQM. Researchers in these groups will conduct experiments using IQM equipment, furthering scientific progress.

This initiative also includes testing IQM’s qubit technology and conducting experiments based on its hardware. This long-term collaboration will lead to major scientific breakthroughs, many academic contributions and new product innovations. This approach is part of the strategy chosen by IQM, which consists in providing its customers and partners with direct access to the components of its devices.

Speaking about the announcement, Dr. Juha Vartiennen, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of IQM said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Bar Ilan University, and we look forward to a fruitful and long-term experience of scientific and commercial cooperation. This announcement positively aligns with our strategy To provide commercial-grade quantum computing hardware to global research groups.”

“This collaboration is also a milestone in our collaboration with the world-class quantum ecosystem in Israel. As quantum computers continue to develop, the technical knowledge developed in Israel – for example in machine learning and quantum computing software – will become extremely important in the future.”

Going forward, all parties also aim to expand the cooperation to the manufacture of full-stack quantum computers, for scientific and commercial purposes in Israel.

Professor Nadav Katz, director of the HUJI Center for Quantum Information Science, said.

The highly coherent qubit-controlled oscillations of IQM qubits were measured in Israel (HUJI).

“We are pleased to participate in a study that puts Israel and its universities at the forefront of the global effort to develop quantum computers. There is still a long way to go, but I believe that we at Bar Ilan University, together with our partners at the Hebrew University will succeed in obtaining unprecedented results,” he said. Professor Michael Stern.
