After the last black streak of five consecutive defeats, the Jazz need rhythm and serenity before the playoffs. So the Thunder’s reception came in time for the forces of Utah that imposed themselves easily, after they succeeded remarkably in the first largest quarter of the season, with a score of 41 points (137-101).
Bojan Bogdanovic (27 points) and Rudy Gobert (20 points, 10 rebounds) led for this success while Jalen Hurd (23 points) led the second straight game during the Twenties for Thunder.
What to remember
– Jazz reassures a little. While their relationship is still at the center of discussions in Utah, Donovan Mitchell was in civilian clothes on the bench when Rudy Gobert was on the floor. The Tricolor Axle took advantage of the arrival of the Thunder in the middle of a trial period to have fun against an abandoned bat from the population. The French finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks, all at 9/9 from shots, well assisted by 27 points in 26 minutes from Bojan Bogdanovic. The Jazz had their fifth consecutive home win, and their third in their last four games.
– free second round. If Donovan Mitchell was at rest, Mike Conley (right knee) and Royce O’Neill (thumb) were also saved in this match with a slim bet. But, with the exception of Thunder’s return in the second quarter, with a 13-2 score that Jaylen Hoard wrapped up in, the Jazz made the job easy. And so it concluded with a 16-2 scoreline the most prolific first quarter of the season for Utah (scoring 41 points), and thanks to a good finish to the first half, the Jazz were unconcerned for the rest of the game, with Jordan Clarkson (18 points, 10 assists) and Hassan Whiteside (15 points, 11 Rebound) handles daily chores in second place.
– Thunder in full casting. On the Thunder side, the entire season finale is free (again). In addition to Jaylen Hoard who once again ran well with 23 points, the OKC franchise doubled down on attempts with rising Greek superstar Geogios Kalaitzakis and Zavier Simpson, winners last night. Melvin Fraser, Jr. also had plenty of playing time, not necessarily to good use with 8 points despite 15 attempted shots.
tops/swings
✅ Bojan Bogdanovic. After a complicated game in the overtime win over Memphis, Bojan Bogdanovic regained serenity in front of Gruyere’s defense against the Thunder. At 27 points on 7/11 shots, the Croatian sniper didn’t have to force his talent, as he recited his game to perfection, as his team’s No. 1 choice.
✅ Rudy Gobert. Without real opposition under the boards, Rudy Gobert managed to inflate his offensive stats last night. Served well in finishing touches under the circle, he finished 9/9 on shots to get a very clean double at 20 points and 10 rebounds.
✅ Jaylen Howard. Opposite Rudy Goubert, another Frenchman stood out. While fellow countryman Olivier Sarr has just been cut, Jaylen Hoard is still doing well, with 23 points at 8/17 in shots including 5/8 from three-pointers, as well as 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
✅ ⛔ Jared Butler. The rookie from Baylor was entitled to 30 minutes off the bench and used it to provide 10 assists (including 8 in the second half) but he also shredded shots with 3/13 small including 1/9 in the back arc.
✅ ⛔ Xavier Simpson. Along the same lines, junior point guard Xavier Simpson was fired in the Big Five for his second NBA appearance, and he’s also been good at creating his teammates, with 11 assists. But she was not convincing in the shots with 2/10 at the end…
